Project: Identity for David Byrne exhibition
Client: Färgfabriken
People: Martin Frostner & Johanna Lewengard
Just as David Byrne was inspired by the physical architecture of Färgfabriken, our solution for wall graphics, posters, invites and booklets sprang from the nineteenth century industrial atmosphere of the building itself. The language of the signs and directions is therefore inspired by the old signs from the building when it was still a paint factory. The interior of the factory is painted grey throughout, and to continue this raw quality, we applied our signeage directly on to the walls using a Le Corbusier stencil font and marking ink. To further link the exhibition design with the building, we redesigned the existing signs in the same style. This style in the wall graphics was then translated into posters and other printed material.
